In the late summer of 2018, I had the amazing experience of visiting my homeland of Armenia for the first time ever, with some truly amazing people. I grew up learning the history of my country, its language, and culture. Always looking at pictures of how beautiful it is, but never being able to experience it, until the summer of 2018.
I went to Armenia with my dad’s old Canon A-1 35 mm film SLR from the ‘70’s and a few rolls of film. I’d never shot on film before, but on this trip I fell in love with how romantic it is. With only so many photos on a roll of film, you as a photography have to be incredibly present minded with what you’re seeing in the view finder in order to capture the right shot.
In the two weeks that I spent in Armenia, I only ended up taking 7 pictures.
In an unassuming parking lot under the 2/210 freeway overpass, there’s a gathering every Saturday. Cars n’ coffee. Local car enthusiasts gather every Saturday morning for a cup or two of coffee and to check out some sweet rides.
When I began organizing this event, I never thought it would grow into what it is today. It started out as a handful of local friends who would meet up at this parking lot for some coffee on Saturday mornings before going on a canyon drive up the Angeles Mountains. Years later, hundreds of people gather every week at this local community event.
The best part of this event? The people, and their cars. There’s such a diversity of cars, from old classics, to modern exotics, each one gives a little insight into the owner of the car, who’s usually right next to the car eager to answer any questions you might have.
This is an awesome community event, and has been a place for me to meet some very awesome people. If you’re in the LA area and looking for something to do on Saturday mornings, come on by for some cars n’ coffee!
